MARGARITA JIMENO is an award winning filmmaker living and working in New York City.

Margarita’s music documentary Gogol Bordello Non-Stop was released theatrically and in DVD throughout North America by Kino-Lorber International. It was broadcasted in Latin America, and Russia, and it toured and won several awards at international film festivals. Her latest short film Swimming Away was successfully funded by a crowd funding kickstarter campaign. In 2010 Jimeno was selected to participate in Werner Herzog’s first Rogue Film School in Los Angeles. She has worked with Vincent Moon,  and for companies such as m ss ng p eces, Flavorpill, NBC, Channel Thirteen, All Rise, and Creative Magazine amongst others.  Margarita is an alumni of the Talent campus at the 61st Berlin Film festival.

Jimeno’s production company Hoptza Films LLC, has produced a variety of international videos, and documentaries ranging from music, fashion, and cultural topics. Margarita is currently developing a music TV series, and writing a narrative feature she will direct. In addition Margarita is an accomplished photographer. Born and part time raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Margarita moved to New York City in 1997. Her work reflects her passion for music, and the peculiarities of life, which tend to be absurd, and surrealistic.
